Joining a production crew by spending a few days in Malacca to observe and shoot the local Special Olympics team before their departure for Berlin to compete in the Special Olympics 2023 with other countries, here are the still images that I shot while experiencing first-hand the dedication held by these athletes who all suffer from some form of intellectual disability and other physical/mental ailments.

Sports remains as a strong outlet for these individuals by tapping into their suppressed energy and hidden emotions to give birth to a better version of themselves.

As they trained, coaches who are well mingled into their lives know very well how to interact and communicate with them, unleashing surprising potential within these people. A product of their families as well, mothers, fathers, siblings and other social members have given them the patience, dedication, love and support for them to keep going.
